971638_10151686251748466_1394472586_nI haven’t known Mary Ann for very long at all, though, I guess in the expat world, we’ve been friends a long time.  In spite of the (thus far) brief nature of our friendship, I feel like I’ve known her forever.  Her bubbly energy is contagious and she’s even more crafty than I am! I’m truly thrilled she’s adopted me as an Aussie 🙂

Where were you born?  Queensland, Australia

Where are you currently? Houston, Texas

What you love about where you are living? The expats

What is the worst thing about where you live? The traffic on the freeways, the narrow mindedness of some Americans

The hardest part of living where you live? Being away from family

What has surprised you most about where you live? How cheap everything is? Americans whinging about how hard their life is

Your biggest lesson learned? To be happy no matter what, everything good and bad ends eventually.

One reason you wouldn’t have missed living there for the world? Friends

The best food? Anything I don’t have to cook or clean up after – Mexican!

The best sight? Home after a long weekend touring around – friends just hanging out!

Your biggest fear for the future? Not being here long enough to see or doing everything on my list!

Funniest incident? 1.Conversation with Tax office over my TIN  – it hadn’t arrived in the mail and so when I rang to find out why – he asked me for my number so he could look up the computer to check why it hadn’t arrived  -when I told him I didn’t know my number because it hadn’t arrived in the mail and that was why I was ringing I was told not to be rude and just give him my number – this went on through his two supervisors as well – they could not seem to understand that I was not being rude but would not know the number until the paper work arrived in the mail !!!! eventually I hung up!!!!

What NOT to do in your location? Cross the road even at a walk signal without being VERY CAREFUL!  Eat prepackaged food !

The person who has inspired you most where you live and why?  Jo Henschell – cause she is so helpful never can do enough for you and just enjoys life

Best piece of advice you could give to newbie expats? Join an expat group – ICH, TANZOT, do things don’t sit ad dwell on how hard expat life is!

Anything else you want to add? Yes, Las, you are awesome, an inspiration to know and make a great wannabe Aussie but you will have to work on the loud and crazy a bit more!
