Bosnian, bacon butties, baseball and another BBQ!

Friday brought with it the infamous Royal Wedding.  Col worked from home (and he subjected me to watching it! lol!) and, after a quick stop in JoAnns (to pick up a bag of stuffing for a toy I’m knitting) we enjoyed a yummy (and free thanks to our rehearsal dinner) lunch at our fave local Italian, Carinos.

While Col worked the afternoon away, I knitted a little and, for whatever reason, I decided to blitz my utility room, which, until now, had looked like (as Col would say) Darth Vader’s Bathroom!

Magz had told me that Sam was swamped all week and could do with some decompressing.  I suggested we head out to Cafe Pita and grab some dinner.  Cafe Pita is a Bosnian restaurant that I’ve wanted to try for a while now.  The SSA Lunch Bunch, gathered for lunch there last month, when I was away on honeymoon in K.L.

We tried a few of their delicacies, Col ordered the Cevap (kind of like a Bosnian sausage bap!) as well as an inside out cheeseburger, while I tried the lamb shank (which melted my soul!)  It was delicious, reasonably priced and although the restaurant is very small, it was quaint, charming and we had a lovely dinner!

Before heading home, we decided to drop in on the Happy Tea House – a place Magz and I enjoyed a nice lunch, as they did great smoothies.  Sam and Col were keen to try one, so we picked up some yummy dessert smoothies.

Saturday morning brought with it bacon butties, an afternoon of watching our newest obsession (Dexter) and chilling out, pretty much doing very little whatsoever!

Roof off at the Juice Box...Stretching!

Saturday night, the Maddens and McMasters (yes, we do spend a lot of time together, no, I’ve no earthly idea what we’re going to do when they’re gone for almost two whole months this summer!) headed up to the Juice Box to watch the Astros take on the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Maddens - soaking up the sun!
The McMasters

The roof was off, the air was sticky, the ice cream melted before we’d even sat down and the Astros won – that’s pretty much it, in a nut-shell!

'Stros Win!
Final score! whoot!

On Sunday morning (my 4th anniversary with my fabulous man!), I did something I haven’t done for a while, I did a coupon shop.  It was a great week for loo roll offers, and hey? Who can ever have enough loo roll?! lol!

I left my sleeping beauty hubby in bed and headed out to a number of shops to pick up some deals.  When I returned home (victorious might I add!), I made the hubster and I some sausage butties for breakfast.

The afternoon became somewhat of an unplanned gem!

We had an impromptu BBQ.  We sent the boys out to pick up a few necessary veggies, I did fish, chicken kebabs and burgers, with garlic roasted potatoes and for dessert, we had some Cadbury’s chocolate stuffed bananas that we cooked on the BBQ.

Bazzie zonked out on my floor after playing in the garden!
Chef Col!
Poppy is impatient, throw the dang ball uncle Col!
Magz and Sam, soaking up some rays...
Taking a time out from cooking for a much needed drink!

Tuesday started off with me going to Lane Bryant to shop for trousers, I’m in big need of ‘pants’.  I came away with two pairs of cut-offs, a pair of earrings and $25 off my next purchase.  Not a bad 40 minutes work!

Next, Amee and I went out to lunch.  It was fun, we’d not hung out in a while and she’s getting ready for a big move to Singapore so getting together for a lunch was long since overdue!

After enjoying a yummy Chipotle, we both headed to Carters – Amee needed to buy some bits and pieces for Mr Michael (clothes are a lot more expensive in Singapore) and I needed to buy some things for a couple of pregnant friends of mine!

That night, was the first of a 3-game week for the Houston Aeros.  The 3 game-week didn’t start so great for the Aeros as we lost, we lost by 2 goals.  It wasn’t a particularly fun game to watch, but, I held out hope that the Admirals were going DOWN.

Wednesday morning, Col worked from home.  The original plan was that Col was going to work from home, then head in to the office in the afternoon, go to Pearland for football and come home.

Plans changed, he worked from home (which meant I got a lie in).  I went to H.E.B to pick up some groceries (I only spent $40 and was VERY happy with myself and my small spending total!) and decided to have a pie cook-in!

I made 2 fish pies, 3 chicken pies and had to abandon the pie-off when our plans changed again!

As it turned out, football was cancelled, Col had a meeting with some people in Singapore so we drove up to his office.  I sat an wrote some letters at his desk (after a quick chat with a few of his colleagues) and Col went to a conference room to attend his meeting.

After the meeting was over, we went to the cinema (with Magz and Sam) to see Fast Five.  The movie itself wasn’t fantastic, but it wasn’t terrible either.  I enjoyed it, it made me laugh, it made me cry and although parts of it were fiercely unbelievable, it was a fun film – not to mention, Mr Diesel was hot as ever 😉 lol!

Thursday rolled around again, bringing with it the SSA Be Creative group.  When Natalia had left, Magz and I sat outside knitting in the sunshine.  After about 20 minutes, I began to pink up, so, we headed in to the First Colony Mall to grab a bite to eat and meet up with Crystal and Faith to do a spot of shopping!

I picked up a few bits in Bath and Body works (with a $10 off $30 coupon!) and struck pay dirt in the Body Shop!

Amber and I bought ourselves a groupon, pay $20, get $45’s worth of credit to spend in store.  I also picked one up for Magz’s birthday present.  Amber couldn’t get to the store before it expired so I offered to go for her, she sent me a shopping list and Magz and I went to spend our own.

When we walked in, we were confronted with these huge pink beach bag totes.  The guy behind the counter told us that they were $12 each (the proceeds of which go to victims of domestic abuse), you get 30% off anything you can fit inside the bag and you get a coupon for 4 free gifts as well.

It worked out very well indeed! I came out with lip balm, hand cream and shower gel, as well as the few bits and bobs that Amber asked me to pick up for her.  It was a great shopping spree – and very inexpensive to boot!

After a dinner of fish pie, we headed to game 2 of the week.  A cracker of a game, in which the Aeros tried to give us heart failure – they won in overtime, (not before I managed to scream my head off!) tying up the series at 2 games a piece!
