Day 10 – Dandering down Orchard Road

Due to the exhausting excitement of the weekend, we had a bit of a lie-in.  Amee’s sitter was there for the morning (she was also at the GP madness weekend) so we chatted while Col and I took the “softly, softly” approach to breakfast as, it turned out, we both got some food poisoning from the $15 (a piece) chicken kebabs and were feeling pretty crappy!

Our first stop in Vivo City was the $2 ‘Daiso’ store, where I did a bit of a Dollar Store-esque shop.  We had a quick (and non impressive) lunch in Carls Jr (I was still craving fish) before we headed to Orchard Road.

The Eage has landed on Orchard Road!

Orchard Road is a long stretch in Singapore, that’s end to end shopping, for both the locals, but also a big tourist attraction.  I, personally, wasn’t too impressed.  It was more name brands, designers and shops that I’m not overly interested in, but it was an experience!

We started in Lucky Plaza, moved to the famous Tangs department store before we hit up Tanglin Mall, where we indulged in a cuppa and a donut in Dunkin’ Donuts.

The next shopping mall on our list, was the Orchard Ion mall, before we took the MRT to Little India for our dinner.

The Banana Leaf

We momentarily considered eating in Jaggis, a Northern Indian restaurant, but, we couldn’t figure out if we liked Northern or Southern Indian food.  We knew The Banana Leaf did both Northern and Southern cuisine, so we played it safe and went to the Banana Leaf.  As it happens, it’s Northern cuisine that we like, and we both ordered off the Northern Menu.

The place was PACKED! It wasn’t as nice as our first trip to the Banana Leaf (we’d eaten at a different location) but it was still yummy! We tried lime juice for the first time, a local delicacy, (I guessed it must be nice as it was on everyone’s table) it was delicious!!  While we were eating, an episode of the A-Team developed around us, out of nowhere, Col started giggling.  A truck of workers pulled up outside, hopped the van and started working, he was very amused!

Back on Sentosa, we had a chilled out evening of tea, chocolate and snoozin’ after a long, tiring day of walking the streets!
