Saying goodbye to a beautiful city…(Days 8&9)

View from the Space Needle!

Friday we got up early and headed in to the big city.  I had a haircut in a place called Vain.  It’s got great reviews on the net and although the stylist I’d originally booked an appointment with, couldn’t take me, the girl I got had moved to Seattle from Dallas, TX – what a coincidence!

Her name was Lucie – like Charlie Browns buddy – and she ROCKED.  She listened to what I wanted, she talked to me about some concerns I’ve been having, gave me suggestions and ideas, used the Deva products I use at home and gave me a really great cut! Not only that, but it was about half the price that I’d have paid in sunny Texas!

What else do you do with a new haircut? Stand on top of a tower in the wind and rain of course!

She did take about 6 inches off my hair though – and Col’s rules are always the same, ‘1/2 an inch to an inch’, so I was wary he’d hate it.  However, he loved it! And once she’d taken the 6 inches off, it made my hair seriously bouncy and super curly – I looked like curly Sue!

When I was done at the chop-shop, Col and I went to meet Gen and Nicole and we walked to a nearby restaurant (CJ’s) to have lunch before Col and I headed up the Space Needle.

What a view!!!

Check out that barnet!

It was freezing and it took a lot less time than I thought it would to do a ‘lap’ around the top of the needle, but the view was really gorgeous and quite an end to our fantastic vacation!

T'was a bit windy!

We spent the evening back at the hotel, doing laundry and chilling with junk food.

Saturday was another early-to-rise kinda day, it was straight to the airport for us, we dropped off the car (car milage was 22,915 when we picked it up and 23,726 when we dropped it back) and straight to a security area with no ‘Elite status’ and one guy operating it.  Ugh.  Yawnnnnnn! It took so long!

Once we got through, Col opted for a burrito for lunch and I got some fish’n’chips from Ivars fish bar.  It was the most delicious fish I’d had in a while, Col’s burrito left a lot to be desired.  While I was waiting for my food, Col made friends with an old guy who needed his help opening a bottle of water (he had a medical condition that deteriorated the operations in his hands).  He sat and chatted to us for a while, turns out, he was going to Vegas to bet on the superbowl! LOL!

When we landed, we were knackered and by the time we got back in to Sugar Land we just decided to pick up some Buffalo Wild Wings before practically falling asleep in them!

We had a really great holiday, we’ve had quite the string of crappy luck thrown at us since October and we both really needed a break.  Seattle was most definitely the place to enjoy a break.

So much to do, so much to see and some great friends to visit in the process.  It was fast paced, it was fun, it was fantastic – and neither of us can wait to go back to the West Coast!

Phew! Now that’s over I can bring y’all up to speed on the last fortnight of fun and games here in H-Town! (I’m sure you’re all waiting with baited breath!!)
