Superbowl (XLVI) Sunday 2012; Giants -v- Patriots

Sunday morning, we were up early, we went to Magz and Sam’s to pick up Sophie and we headed to the Toyota Centre (with a brunch detour to McDonalds) to watch my boys (The Houston Aeros) take on the Milwaukee Admirals in our barn.

The Aeros lost, but Sophie enjoyed the experience and, aside from the fact that the Aeros were frustrating, making poor mistakes and lost, I think Amber enjoyed it too!

I did however, pick up my ‘yearly T-shirt’ from the Aeros merch counter.  I’ve said it before, but every year since we first came out to Houston, I get a new T-shirt.  I still think my first, the dark green one, is my favourite, but this years wasn’t bad at all.  Amber also picked up a mini-hockey stick to take home to Miss Averie.

Christmas for Averie!

After the game, we headed back to Magz and Sam’s, where we all got comfortable (watching Top Gear) and as it approached 5pm, Amber and I sorted out the Superbowl snacks and nibbles for the gang to enjoy during the game (I’ll share the recipes in another blog post).

Normally, when it comes to Superbowl Sunday, I’m sick.  I’ve never watched a Superbowl, so this year, aside from being a bit stuffed up, I was in full health to watch the game.  I had nothing vested in either team, though Amber most certainly did.  She’d entered a work pool, which meant that if the Giants won, she got $375, but if the Patriots won, she won $1800 – you can guess which team we were all cheering for!

Unfortunately the odds weren’t in her favour (but shush, it’s still a touchy subject with her as she really wanted a deposit for a new car as both her cars have given up the ghost) but the game was entertaining, the food was great and Eve and I enjoyed watching our first ever Superbowl together!
