Jetlagged in to Autumn…

Phew! Now that I’ve brought y’all up to date on our trip to Singapore, I can get stuck in to bringing you up to speed on the last few weeks.  Let’s call this a memory exercise – we’ll see just how much I remember about our time since we’ve been home in sunny Texas.

I think the first point to note, is that the temperature dropped in Texas during our absence, “Fall” finally fell and the Texan weather is a lot more pleasant and tolerable than the scorching 100+ degree heat we’ve endured this summer!

When we landed, we tried to call our go-to post-flight take away (Buffalo Wild Wings) but, due to a storm, they’d lost power and had shut down temporarily.  This left us with a dilemma, what to have for dinner?! We really wanted Wings, so decided to do the unthinkable and cheat on Buffalo Wild Wings, with Wings’n’Things.

Never again!!!  It was rotten! Serves me right, I should have known better! LOL!

Friday 30th September, Col worked from home, mostly to ease me back in to being home.  If I’d gone from having him all day every day for two weeks, I’d have suffered withdrawal – yes, I know, I sound pathetic, but it’s true.

Saturday morning, the jet-lag struck, we were both up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5am, by 6.30am, we were in HEB across the road, picking up groceries for breakfast.  After we put the shopping away, we enjoyed a full cooked breakfast before I headed up to my first Saturday Choir rehearsal.

We’re going to have one Saturday choir rehearsal a month, a kind of pot luck lunch type thing, we practice, we eat and we socialise – for newbies and longstanding members to interact and get to know each other.

It was fun and since I’d not had time to do much, I picked up some food from Target, instead of making something – I know, I know, shame on me!

When I got home from choir, Col and I finished Lost.  I won’t spoil it for you, in case you’ve not seen it, but the finale left me deflated, like I was warned it would.  It kinda felt unfinished, like there was still more to come or something…

That night, we met up with my partner in crime Magz (and Sam of course) for a quick dinner and catch-up in Red Robin (yum!) before fading faster than a blown lightbulb and heading straight to bed!

Sunday, October 2nd, brought with it a day of TV! Col and I plonked ourselves on the sofa and started our TV catch-up, we watched XFactor (both the UK and the US versions) before I took leave of my senses and headed up to the gym for my ‘welcome home’ Body Attack class (after which, I rewarded myself with a big roast dinner!)

After a pretty quiet weekend, and still combating some oddly timed tiredness, I kept Monday pretty low-key, with the exception of a Choir rehearsal, though Tuesday, was jam packed with stuff to do!

I started Tuesday with a Spanish lesson with the lovely Ana Maria, I’d missed a week of class and I’ll admit, I’ve not been the best student at keeping up with my homework, but the class was, as always, fun!

After class, I met up with Magz and her friend Zoe who was in town visiting from Australia and we headed up to Zenquilatea, a salon-spa that Magz had tried before for a wee mani-pedi.

My experience at the salon was lovely, it was clean, fresh and welcoming, the staff were friendly, attentive and skilled, my only downside was that it cost $50 for a mani-pedi (including tip) and personally, that’s a bit steep! Otherwise it was a great place to go!

Back at home, I grabbed my gym gear, dropped Col off at Magz and Sam’s and headed up to another Body Attack (I was a little late cause of stupid, rush hour traffic!) but it was fun, full of energy and I felt great!

When I’d finished, I headed back to Magz and Sam’s house for a shower, before we took Zoe out to our favourite Tex-Mex restaurant, Chuys, for dinner, to show her what the fuss was all about (I even stayed away from the margaritas, which almost killed me!!)

WOW – a post comprised of solely words? What is this blog coming to?! I’ll have to dig out some pictures to keep y’all interested!
